Hoshana Rabbah: dates, start and end
Hoshana Rabbah, on 21 Tishrei, is the seventh and last day of Sukkot: the synagogue is circled seven times with the lulav and the etrog, the aravot (willow branches) are beaten on the ground, and many stay up through the night to study. Work is allowed, but the morning service is longer than usual.
