Who is responsible for your data?

Petite Jérusalem is an independent project run by Phenixel. For any question about your data, write to contact@phenixel.fr.

Can I use Petite Jérusalem without an account?

Yes. Reading texts, browsing the library, and offline downloads are all available without creating an account. A free account (email/password, Google, or Apple) is only needed to keep your preferences, reading progress, and receive a daily reading reminder.

What data is collected?

• If you create an account: your email address and display name, provided by you or by Google/Apple when you sign in.
• Preferences and progress: theme, chosen fonts, your daily reading list and progress.
• Notifications: if you enable the reading reminders, a technical device token, the reminders you chose (set time, last call before shkia), and the notification language. The before-shkia reminder additionally stores your location rounded to a tenth of a degree (about 11 km) and your time zone: shkia has to be computed while your phone sleeps. Both are erased as soon as that reminder is turned off.
• Shared reading: if you create or join a shared session (Talmud, Tehilim…), the name you provide (and your email if you take part without an account) is visible to anyone with the session link.
• Zmanim: if you ask for the times of your location, your coordinates are saved in your device's local storage for the computation, which happens entirely offline. They only leave the device if you enable the before-shkia reminder, and rounded (see above); the “Back to Paris” button erases them.

We do not collect any data for advertising purposes and do not use any ad trackers.

Analytics and cookies

With your consent (a banner is shown on your first visit), we use PostHog to understand how the app is used and fix its bugs: page views, interactions, technical errors, and session recordings in which everything you type is masked. This data is hosted in the European Union.

Until you accept, no analytics cookie or tracker is set. You can withdraw or give your consent at any time via the "Manage cookies" link at the bottom of the page (or in the app's About tab).

Where is this data hosted?

Petite Jérusalem uses Firebase (Google) as its technical processor: authentication, database (Firestore), server functions, and site hosting. Data is hosted on Google's infrastructure (primarily in the United States). Google acts solely as a technical provider and does not use this data for its own purposes. Analytics data is processed by PostHog and hosted in the European Union.

Why is this data used?

• to authenticate you and secure your account;
• to personalize your reading experience (theme, font, progress);
• to send you your reading reminders, if you enable them;
• to power shared reading between participants.

How long is it kept?

Your preferences and progress are kept for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account (Profile → Security), both your authentication account and your preferences (theme, progress, notification tokens) are deleted immediately. Shared reading sessions you created remain visible until deleted, even after your account is deleted.

Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, delete, and object to the processing of your data. You can:

• delete your account and data at any time from Profile → Security;
• write to us at contact@phenixel.fr for any other request;
• file a complaint with the CNIL (cnil.fr) or your local data protection authority.

Security

All communication with the app is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Access to your data in the database is technically restricted: only your account can read or modify your own preferences.

Minors

Petite Jérusalem is a religious and educational app suitable for all audiences. It does not knowingly collect data specifically targeting children beyond the normal operation of a family account.

This policy may evolve along with the app. The last update date is shown at the top of this page.
